As Summer draws to a close, we highlight our top five UK Summer exhibitions still available to visit this Autumn. They include a very rare opportunity to see the Bayeux Tapestry at the British Museum, plus a major exhibition about the life and influence of Frida Kahlo.

The Bayeux Tapestry

10th Sept - 11th Jul, British Museum, London

Experience the legendary textile as it returns to England for the first time in nearly a thousand years. Described as one of the wonders of the medieval world, the tapestry offers a vision of life in 11th-century England both before and after the conquest. It spans an epic 70 metres in length and tells the dramatic story of 1066, a year that changed Europe forever.

New Faces, New Focus: Stories We Share

18th Sep - 20th Dec, Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool

Touring Liverpool, Armagh and Aberdeenshire, this exhibition brings together new work by artists and community participants. Artworks are displayed alongside objects from the three museums, exploring how communities relate to archives and local histories.

Schiaparelli: Fashion Becomes Art

28th Mar - 15th Nov, V&A South Kensington, London

Fashion and surrealism collide in the inventive world of Elsa Schiaparelli. Showcasing iconic garments, accessories and collaborative artworks by Dalí, Man Ray, and Jean Cocteau, this exhibition traces the designer's bold experiments with colour, texture and print.

Henry Moore: Monumental Nature

9th May - 31st Jan, Kew Gardens, London

Discover towering sculptures and smaller-scale creations by Henry Moore, one of Britain's most renowned artists, in this his largest ever presentation of outdoor artworks. The exhibition brings art and nature together, blurring the boundaries between sculpture and living form.

Frida: The Making of an Icon

25th Jun - 3rd Jan, Tate Modern, London

Over 130 works, alongside documents, photographs and personal memorabilia, reveal Frida Kahlo as a modernist visionary and a devoted wife. The exhibition also highlights women’s transformative role in art and the communities that continue to embrace her legacy.
